It is better you install
Optional OpenMotif version for Oracle installations
from the Maintenance WEB
http //sdb.suse.de/download/i386/update/SuSE-SLES/8/rpm/i586/openmotif21-libs-2.1.30MHi Tony
I had problems like that with different ftp-Daemons and vsftp or wuftp were the only ones I could get to work. wuftp is very insecure and has a lot of security bugs.
With 8.0 you have aNot Oracle Related although I do ned it as the Oracle user. I run Suse
8.0 and I can 't get the ftp daemon to work. Ftpd just won 't start. I
uncommented it from the /etc/inetd file and rebooted - Hi Dirk
in x86 you have to "echo 3000000000 > /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax ". But I don 't know if you have a /proc-FS on zSeries and I also don 't know if this would work oder even this Variable exists.

1. Have CBO stats been gathered on all tables/indexes?
2. Have you run a statspack report?
3. Have you run a 10046 trace on the badly performing processes?

It depends.
How many disks (physical spindles ) do you have?
If a lot split your indexes data rollbacks temp and redo logs across as
many physical spindlesI?m using SlES 8(UL) and Oracle 8.1.7.
My question is about the datafiles Is it better to used more smaller datafiles or less bigger ones? Why ?
