for the exact reason.
If you are running on a not certified platform it 's OK to
ignor ive been running 10g on United Linux (from SLES8). Works flawlessly!

I do have a error message which says relWe have SLES8 RH 2.1 and 3.0 running - RedHat with Oracle 8i works fine. The original OP wanted to know about RH 3.0 and Oracle 8i. This configuration is not supported by Oracle.
Right now just 10g.
