that didn 't respond and the local console was blank NumLock not working.
We are investigating now for possible causes.

But in this case you have to adjust your application (ie you cannot do this for 3rd party applications). In additioVery interesting because our production Report Server on Oracle 6i

The reports server appears to be failing sometimes due to unknown causes.

Hi Alexei
I think there is a misunderstanding here. A service shouldn 't depend on a failed-over VIP.
Let 's take an example of a 2-node RAC
A node crashes and the VIP starts on the other node. CHoj!
Running Oracle 10Gr2 on SuSE Linux Pro. 10.
Oracle Installation went OK.
Then I create two instances with "dbca " (included EM) ... all OK.

Hi
the VIP is a very important feature and you *must not* forget about the VIP.
The only reason why we have a VIP is to avoid TCP/IP-timeouts. And this is crucial in a high availability environmenCreating Database Links on Oracle 10.2.0.1 results in the string REGRESS.RDBMS.DEV.US.ORACLE.COM being appended to the link name.

host name liWe are testing the cluster to see how it behaves.
If we unplug a node out of the interconnect switch OCFS2 provokes kernel
panic. The VIP address of the panicked node moves to the surviving node.Hi

as mentioned earlier I also would put all 3 fields in the index to avoid the table access.
Depending on your selectivity of field3 and the number of NULLs in field2 you may also compress the i |
