FrHi list
I 'm running into the following problem
Installed 9.2.0.1.0 on an RS/6000 p630 (Proc. model 7248) 64bit AIX 5.2
Patched to 9.2.0.4.0. I can 't start any executable like sqlplus / lsnrctHi
We use ATs for pretty much all the Error/Warning/Info/Debug stuff. Since you
don 't want to interfere with the calling transaction and leave potential
commits/rollbacks to the calling context One way for reducing latching & contention in heavy soft-parse scenarios
would be setting cursor_space_for_time to true. This requires somewhat more
memory in your UGAs but can "make things go fastOn 02/17/2004 02 14 41 PM Jared.Still@(protected) wrote

One thing to consider is that Oracle only "fully support " the latest patch set
and the previous one (for up to 6 weeks after the latest one is released).
See Metalink note 209768.1 - Database & iAS Hi Pedro
My guess is when you did "connect / as sysdba " the process table was
already filled and you actually failed to connect.
Then when you tried to shutdown abort you got ORA-1031 cause yoBest way to test if a listener is up use 'tnsping '. Best way to see
if a database instance is up and available try connecting to it.

With each row one "lock byte " is stored. If the
row is beeing changed by some transaction the
lock byte points to an ITL in the same data block.
