Funnily enough the first (technical) slide in my
"Migrating to CBO " presentation at Hotsos shows
how you can increase the CPU and latch activity
even if every single execution plan stays the same.
Issue the statement
select table_name last_analyzed from user_tables
If the last_analyzed column is not null statistics exist (although they
may not be up to date) if it is null statistics do I have a C rouine and I need to be able to run it as an external procedure
under Oracle 10 on linux.
I need to compile it to .so....but how do do that?

be that they are speculating that a disk read takes about 20 ms so

We definitely found that we were getting away with murder on our 9.2.x DB with regards bad SQL. When we upgraded to 10.2 we uncovered some real hornets nests of unbound SQL statements You could examine the listener.log located at $ORACLE_HOME/network/log.
I 've never found anything terribly useful there but it is something you
could check for network-type issues.
I realize this is a basic question but I 'd appreciate a bit of a sanity
check.
I need to install Oracle Label Security on our test box and am
