It 's a Novell enterprise Linux formerly SuSE. Unfortunately
A while ago (2005) i asked on this mailing list for Oracle 4.1
software. At the end Carel Jan Engel helped me on my way. I went the

I 've installed 10gR2 on SLES 9.

One thing you are not considering. The DBA may know how to implement security measures but let 's say that they are working in a "legacy " environment where apps where not setup correctly tI don 't know about the percentage but I can tell you my own
experiences. It has been difficult for me to feel I have a complete
understanding of the 'big picture '.
Where are the holes? What are I have a solaris 8 server with 2 oracle homes. One is 9.2.0.6.0 and the
other 10.2.0.1.0.
When I go to my client (from my desk) and login with SQL*Plus I can 't get it
to use the "SQL*Plus Release 9If you take out the part "know how to " as in

then I would say that based on my experience it 's too low.
For example when I findWell the trick to properly implementing security measures is to tailor said
measures to the company 's unique environment--its users its projects and
the data being managed. Can 40% of DBAs establisA little piece of email today told me the following
"... a full 60 percent of DBAs do not know how to implement database
security measures according to Forrester Research ".
Does that figure seem tYou can hire quite a few DBAs for the cost of the OEM packs. For shops with
fewer than dozens of DBAs the licensing cost makes Grid Control a hard sell
from the labor-savings angle.

Hi all
I want to prevent certain OS users from logging in database using certain DB
accounts (say ORAUSR1). The following code works only if ORAUSR1 is NOT a
DBA account. Can anybody please help?
I can bore on this subject for ages but I 'll shutup now and
