I think Dimitre made a good point in his post. I would just add that in your
case including the trace backup of control file together with rman
controlfile autobackup backup could help.
CI finally found the appropriate doc on MetaLink. Searching every which
way that I could think of didn 't bring it up but I got to it from

Mine vary between 2Gb max and 6 Gb max. Purely because we can recover
quicker using a smaller file size. Mind you our soon to go live 3

Logical standby is available from 9i onwards. I would either go with MV
or Logical standby if I could. Advanced Replication is a night mare to
administer and is to be avoided unless you want 2 ways If I am having a good day I can barely spell unicode.
