Why don't make it in 3 independent steps:
- migrate NFS files onto new filer using NetApp snapshorts
- migrate DB server to SuSe node by node (may be)
- migrate most important tablespaces onto SAN + ASM, keeping the rest on
NFS.
These 3 steps are independent and you can run them one by one.
Other method is well known:
- create fresh new installation
- use RMAN to make backup, and install it on on new place (I recommend still
to use NFS for everything except tablespaces and REDO files - I mean for
backups, archive logs and so on, including image serverw ith all
installation images - SuSe (set up installation source and never insert
CD's) and Oracle (the same);
- then use Incremental RMAN to update newwrly installed system
- then do the same in 'closed' mode (or just setup standby mode on second
system)
- then switch to the new system and use old one as standby copy for a while
