Executing the command manually does not change anything. The command succeeds in a sec without any comments.
I also tried 'ifconfig eth0 up', but the status is still the same.
linux:~ # ifstatus eth0
eth0 device: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] 79c970 [PCnet32 LANCE] (rev 10)
ERROR: No configuration found for eth0
Any further ideas?

Try to configure your interface by hand with something like
ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.250 netmask 255.255.255.0
and look if it comes properly when you make ifconfig -a
This will enable us to see if the problem comes from yast or from the
virtual ethernet adapter.
Don't worry about he inet6 header : it means taht ths interface is ip6
capabled, not that it is ip6 configured.
