I did. On SCSI disks. Something like a 4x performance boost on imports
and I/O intensive tasks under 8i and 9i. On IDE disks, never had any
performance problems.

OT: Under Solaris, separate the Oracle partitions from the rest of your
system and mount them with forcedirectio option. You'll get an I/O
performance boost on Oracle, but performance decrease on plain system
I/O. As with Linux, IDE disks are just fine. Only SCSI and fiber channel
can have the performance problem.
