Responsibilities:

  * Perform routine administration tasks, database replication via
export/import, and creating new Oracle instances/applying upgrades and
patches as required
  * Assist application development staff in maintaining database and
application performance, including SQL tuning, and suggest/implement
improvements where required
  * Work with and mentor associate administrators and development
staff in debugging and tuning applications and data structures
  * Research new database technology related to application
functionality, performance, and storage monitoring; align use of new
database technologies with corporate business objectives
  * Work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical personnel
on development projects that involve IS&T Infrastructure support
  * Function as technical liaison to Vicor's Managed Database Service
Provider
  * Provide database guidance as needed for business intelligence
tools

Minimum Requirements:

  * Requires a BA/BS in CS or equivalent; 1-3 years project management
experience
  * Strong customer focus and service orientation
  * Strong written/verbal communication skills
  * 3-5 years experience with Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL and various
programming methodologies
  * 1-2 years experience with Business Intelligence tools. Cognos or
Hyperion preferred
  * Knowledge of UNIX, Linux and NT; UNIX and Linux system
administration experience desirable
  * Experience with Open Source database technology (PostGreSQL) a
plus
  * Experience with MSSQLServer 2000 a plus
