It's not because of "1 and 2" it's because of this:

Solaris 9  ORACLE 9.2 Addtl. Info.: NONE
Solaris 8  ORACLE 9.2 Addtl. Info.: NONE
Solaris 7  ORACLE 9.2 Addtl. Info.: NONE
Solaris 10  ORACLE 9.2 Addtl. Info.: NONE

NONE additional steps to take going from 2.6->9 that is over 10 years of
trouble free operation!
