I didn't see anything about reading the documentation in
your steps. For some of us, it might be safe to assume we're going to
read the documentation, but others I'm not so sure about ;-) Make sure you
read it thoroughly, including the 10g concepts & new features (if you're not
already familiar with them - there is a LOT of new stuff), the upgrade/migration
guide, release/patchset notes, latest metalink updates, etc. Other than
that, your plan looks good to me. Some on this list would recommend
that you don't use the default gather_stats_job or automatic shared memory
management (sga_target) features of 10g and I would partiall agree, but as with
everything - it depends. Jonathan Lewis made an excellent post to the
list earlier today summarizing the most common CBO-related problems when
upgrading from 8i to 10g - you might want to take a look at that if you haven't
already. Good luck!
I'm preparing to do my first 9i to 10g upgrade and would like to have a
solid plan in place before I start. I've prepared an implementation plan
with the following steps and would like to know if anyone sees steps I might
have missed. We also are moving from a 32-bit to 64-bit platform.
The 10gR2 upgrade guide says this will be handled automatically going from 9i to
10g.
