Replies:

I was suggested to join this list from the OpenSuse list.
I am in the process of setting up Oracle under Linux from an AIX/Oracle set up.
At the same time, I have been asked to look into high availability.
The application in question is making calls from a Java JAR to Oracle.
I am trying to avoid using RAC due to its complexities and what might
be an over kill.
I was wondering if anybody had suggestion on how to proceed or
experiences that can be shared.
I run Linux under zVM on a z-Series IBM mainframe. The external disk
is EMC Symmetric.
The application is from an aix p-570 server with 10 cpu. The
mainframe runs zVM on 2 IFL. The benchmarks are showing a similar
result in terms of performance, query response time, elapsed times and
CPU utilization.
