why did they have to downgrade to 9.2.0.7 when downgrading to SP2?
Anyway, I agree with you that the best solution (in contrast to the
possible solutions I provided) would be to ask Novell Tech support for a
fix. In the meantime I would recommend to switch off async IO (run e.g.
with multiple DB-writer-slaves: dbwr_io_slaves).
