I am running Oracle on SuSE 10.1, not SLES, if that makes any difference.
It's a 32 bit machine. Since it's not a 64 bit machine, I assume the first
environment variable you mention isn't applicable. As for the second, I do
not have /usr/lib/libInternalSymbols.so on my machine. You say that comes
from the orarun package. In looking at the description of this package, it
sounds like it sets up a lot of things that I already have set up manually

ORACLE_HOME and PATH; sets the recommended kernel parameters, e.g. SHMMAX
and provides for automated start/stop of Oracle at system start/stop.
Orarun"
I worry that it will mess up something that is already working. The only
thing that isn't working right now and needs fixing, as far as I can tell,
is netmgr. Can I get /usr/lib/libInternalSymbols.so somewhere else, if
that's all I'm lacking? Also, all discussions I see about it seem to be
referring to Oracle 10, whereas I am running Oracle 9.
Thanks,
Greg Wallace
