Oracle clustwerware 10GR2 - SLES 9 2006-12-14 - By Jean-Hilaire Yapi
Back Hi, You don't need to do so. Let say you have two nodes A (the current database host) and B (a new node). If you plan to go RAC, you can keep your database in the current node A. You make the installations and configuration on the remaining node B. You can have a RAC database running with just one instance on one node. When Cluster ware, Oracle RAC is installed and ready to use, you move your database to B as a RAC database. Your system is then available to your users and you can now add the node A to your cluster, install Oracle RAC, and start an instance of your database on it. Regards, Jean-Hilaire YAPI "Pinault, Damien" <DPinault@(protected)> a ?crit :
I know it is probably not recommended - But is it possible to install Oracle clusterware ( + patch 10.2.0.2 ) while an instance is running on 1 node ?
Everything will be setup in advance : Interconnect + Shared storage + host/accounts equivalencies ... + Full backup ..
The goal is to try to decrease a system downtime when going to RAC .. ( And not having to rebuild a live instance/OS too .. )
Thanks in advance for sharing your ideas,
