Yes, good idea, it is possible

(recently I was on a training at Oracle and this idea was discussed there -
you can set up a grid with one node and later on add other nodes )

Subject: [suse-oracle] Oracle clustwerware 10GR2 - SLES 9

I know it is probably not recommended -
But is it possible to install Oracle clusterware ( + patch 10.2.0.2 )
while an instance is running on 1 node ?

Everything will be setup in advance :
Interconnect + Shared storage + host/accounts equivalencies ... + Full
backup ..

The goal is to try to decrease a system downtime when going to RAC ..
( And not having to rebuild a live instance/OS too .. )

Thanks in advance for sharing your ideas,

D>
