Before start the upgrade process you have to take a full backup and copy
configuration files under /etc directory like fstab, inittab, services,
oratab and others.
Other important step is comment in the fstab file all the entries with
oracle filesystems if you use LVM because after the upgrade the volume
groups sometimes get inactive status.
For me was safe but you have to pay attention with the packages and review
carefully the list before upgrade.
For example I had problems with saplocales package, the solution was
uninstall before upgrade and reinstall after.
