Hi,
from time to time we see heavy trashing of our main system.
Its not easy to debug the reason because at this time no
command will run, no top, no shell etc.
All we can see is very heavy xload for about 5 minutes.
Maybe a user went nuts and is insanely trashing his keyboard ;-)
As we have about 500 sessions (not users) we want to try
shared servers and multiplexing.
Is it enough to do the following?
alter system set
dispatchers = '(protocol = tcp)
(dispatchers = 3)
(pool=on)'
some other info says to set (multiplex=on)
alter system set
shared_servers = 2
max_shared_server = 20

System Bus 200 MHz, 24000 BogoMIPS
4 GB main memory
6 * 150 GB harddisc mirrored, Zero Channel Raid LSI 128 MB
Oracle 10.1.0.5: 20 GB database
