Re: [suse-oracle] RAC - archived logs on NFS

It is possible and do not cause a problems, esp. for artchive Logs and
backups. Oracle certified it with netApp, EMC and other HW vendors, but it
works for the archive logs and backups with any reasonable NFS server (don't
use non certified NFS servers for the datafiles, except in development).

(Certification dont make any sense here, because you can always just 'move'
archive logs by system command).

I feel free to use NFS for non-datafile stuff without any hesitation, no
matter what Oracle says (they are very strange in their certification, cross
connect for Ethernet is a good example).

Hello,

If I'm not wrong, isn't possible to use NFS with RAC databases ( with
exeptions for some propietary NFS systems from storage vendors like EMC2 ).
Using NFS require hard mount and turning off caching (options should be the
same as Oracle require for the database),
but aside of this, it dont cause any troubles.
