we installed patch 10.2.0.3 on this machine an our version are:

we have not installed EM Grid Control so far, only the Oracle 10G EE

and we still have the 'Host Preferred Credentials' Problem.

Michael,
Try upgrading to 10.1.0.4 or later as similar problem is fixed related to
Enterprise Manager Grid Control (Oracle Agent).
