RAC 10g2 SLES10: hangcheck-timer, asmlib, ocfs2 and heartbeat

RAC 10g2 SLES10: hangcheck-timer, asmlib, ocfs2 and heartbeat

Hi list,

the RAC installation docs I found on OTN or the docs from "RAC for
Administrators" course at Oracle University, are for RedHat 3.0 or
higher . They use the hangcheck-timer kernel module, which is not part
of SLES 10. Is it really needed on SLES10 ?
The hangcheck-timer site
(http://oss.oracle.com/projects/hangcheck-timer/dist/documentation/README)
says it was integrated in kernels 2.5. How can it be configured ? The
vmware 2 node installation is more 'lazy' so I would like to set higher
values for it.

Maybe this is not related to hangcheck-timer module:
the ocfs2 installation , when configuring O2CB driver also asks about
kernel or userspace heartbeat method. Does that mean I have to install
and configure the heartbeat system ? Do you have any clues ?

Maybe I should put 3 different entries in the list ? So threads should
be more consistent?

Thanks in advance !
