Hmm, what is common between ASM and SAP? You dont need any SAP certifications to use ASM in Oracle.

I use Hammerora or swingbench to compare the performance; it (how async io change it) depends of a huge amount of
factors. So you can see from 0 increase to 500% increase in performance.

One minor notice - sometimes increasing # of writers or writing slaves can do the same result as async io.

The kernel version is 2.6.5-7.283-smp, I don't use ASM because is not certified by SAP, only EXT3 for filesystems with
oracle datafiles with data=writeback mount option.

There are some measure for the improvement?, I mean some percentage?
