Could you give us more info your configs? With the information you gave us, we cannot tell why you'd expect better performance. Additional info that would help:

- No. and type of CPUs for both the IBM and HP
- memory in the IBM
- swap space configured
- network cards and HBAs used in both systems
- is the new system running 64-bit Oracle
- are you running NUMA/SUMA (numactl --hardware)
- are you using hugemem pages (grep Huge /proc/meminfo)
- do the performance tools show unexpected resource consumption (if you have sysstat installed, look at 'sar -A')
- ...

Hi, recently we migrated from IBM xSeries 445 Suse SLES 9 (32 bits) with 9
GB RAM to HP DL580 G4 SLES9 (AMD64/EM64T) with 16 GB RAM, in both cases
attached to a external FC storage (Hitachi AMS500) running SAP 4.7 on
Oracle 9.2.0.7.

In boths cases we use ext3 filesystems mounted with the writeback option.

After migration we don't see visible better performance and I suspect some
of the hardware components (HBA or ethernet cards) is responsible for the
unexpected performance.


The question is, anyone have the same servers or configuration and have
some tip to help us improve performance?
