Why did you expected better performance on 64 bit servers? It is not true;
64 bit servers are often slowly vs 32 bits (because less data are in the
same cache) and advantages comes from the bigger memory and better limits
and not from the 64 bits alone.
My own tests (I don't insist) shows that Xeon processors are slower in 64
bit mode, and speculations exists that AMD processors are little faster in
64 bit mode. Anyway, difference is minor there.

Hi, recently we migrated from IBM xSeries 445 Suse SLES 9 (32 bits) with 9
GB RAM to HP DL580 G4 SLES9 (AMD64/EM64T) with 16 GB RAM, in both cases
attached to a external FC storage (Hitachi AMS500) running SAP 4.7 on
Oracle 9.2.0.7.
In boths cases we use ext3 filesystems mounted with the writeback option.
After migration we don't see visible better performance and I suspect some
of the hardware components (HBA or ethernet cards) is responsible for the
unexpected performance.
The question is, anyone have the same servers or configuration and have
some tip to help us improve performance?
