Re: Use of LDOM/Containers/Zones - Solaris 10 and ORACLE

Replies:

1. Assuming that you are going with sparse zones, /usr in non-global
zone is read only. In order to have writable /usr/local/bin,
explicitly add read-writable lofs mount from global zone. Same with
chroot stuff like /usr/share/empty of vsftpd.

2. you cannot run nfs server in non-global zones.

3. you cannot install veritas volume manager in non-global zones.
Hence, you cannot manage veritas volumes in non-global zones; you
gotta do it in the global zone. If you are going with zfs pools, thats
cool.

4. You cannot nfs mount directories across zones (global and
non-global) sitting on the same physical machine. There is a work
around using lofs mount.

5. /tmp is shared across all non-global zones, and this borrows from
/swap. So, you cannot add disks for /tmp. There is a work around--by
exporting some disks, modifying vfstab in non-global zones.
