My plan is to migrate an Oracle 10.2.0.3 Win2003 32 bit to an Oracle

Have any of you guys ever tried to use RMAN backup/restore function to
copy
the Win32 DB to Linux 64 bit DB?
What I need to be able to achieve is that the Win 32 DB be active while
I do the RMAN backup, than I restore the DB using RMAN on Linux.

While the datafiles will work, the archivelog files ( and IIRC the controlfiles)
are not in the same format between 32bit and 64bit databases.

I've tried restoring a 64bit Linux database to 32bit server.
The datafiles work, the controlfiles/archivelogs do not.

I moved a bunch of Win32 databases to 64bit Linux.  It was all done
via export/import.
