I am sorry to say but in HP-UX you must use Raw Devices in order to use AIO. And Raw Devices is not specific for Solaris!

You can set disk_asynch_io to whatever value you like but if the underlying OS/Filesystem does not support it wont work

on what basis can we change disk_asynch_io = FALSE to
disk_asynch_io = TRUE (PLease see below information for clarity of my requirement)
