Re: RMAN connection error

RMAN-00554: initialization of internal recovery manager package failed
RMAN-04005: error from target database:
ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist

What happens if you do this:

$ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman target / nocatalog

or this:

$ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman target sys/xxxx@proddb nocatalog

Just to verify which db is causing the error.
